Baby Food

Baby Food
Here is a simple baby food recipe which includes all nutritional values a baby needs without all the fillers you get with store brands. The proportions are estimates based on generally how I make it. You will probably try it one or two times to get it to your desired consistency. If you are not familiar with quinoa, read up on it. You can substitute ingredients with others if you prefer. There is no need to be rigid here. Always keep in mind that babies have taste buds too.

1 medium pot of water.
Meat for base broth: 2 chicken legs or 2 pork bones of any type or mix the two
1/2 cup Quinoa (wash and drain)
1/2 turnip diced
1/2 yam or sweet potatoe diced
1 carrot diced or chopped
1/4 cup of pearl barely
Bring all to a boil and let simmer until barely and quinoa are fully cooked. Throw out meat or take some of the chicken or a bit of the pork to include with the mix. Using a blender or a hand held mixer. Mix all ingredients to a puree.

Boil separately from above but together is okay and add at end for children who can take real solid food.
1/4 cup Sweet peas
1 small potatoe diced
or anything else you can think of

Add to ice tray when cooled and freeze. Keep in zip lock back and use 3-5 cubes as needed on each feeding. Mine takes 5. She is now 17 months and started with 3 cubes. I make enough for 1 to 2 weeks. The about would probably yield about 1 week. Read about it online about freezing baby food to make sure you understand how to handle baby food safely.
